April 26, 2013 – the day
we’ve been looking forward to and now we’re just looking back to. Unbelievably it finally came to pass and was surreal for us.Unforgettable were
those strenuous days of preparation, spending time researching ideas on the internet,
and making calls, sending emails to and meeting with our kind-hearted wedding
suppliers. We never ran out of lists to review and revise and stores to
look into things we may need.
And here was quite a challenge:
the groom-to-be works graveyard shift and bride-to-be works normal office hours
at day. We were worlds apart. Thank goodness for the weekends! Those were the
only days we can meet and plan together with less hassles. We never could deny
how excited we were for our big day, but our worries, too, were as real as our
thrills.
To have an outdoor wedding had
always been on top of our list – no roof, no walls and just right on a lovely
grassy ground below a blue sky and a golden sunset blending to a splendid
purple and orange heaven. Oh, this we had so adored and with that, a late
afternoon’s the best set and the best bet for our wedding ceremony. The excitement
just kept growing all the more we picture this in our imaginations. What could
be more miraculous than that!
And we thought God said
“Let there be…” After labouring in prayer, God led us to the place conceived in
our dreams – no roof, no walls, and just surrounded above by an endearing sky
and curvy Benguet mountains aside.
The rains, however, came a bit early this year. We expected summer for April but almost everyday showcased rain showers in the afternoon. Indeed, came testing of our faith. It was a mishmash of emotions. But it was God’s assuring peace and words that calmed our hearts.
Few hours before the ceremony, it was raining like crazy, flooding the roads, causing heavy traffic jams, and making everyone’s heart beat fast. But our Heavenly God surprised us with the sun shining and the sky breathtakingly clear. It was as if the golden sun wrestled for us dispersing away those rainclouds. God caused it all to allow us to enjoy that day of love, family, friends and songs.
Amazingly, God’s provisions sustained us all through –
before, during and after the wedding. We have tasted and seen how faithful
God has been in meeting all our needs. We felt God’s help through the
people who willingly and joyfully extended their love and support and
prayers. All these were truly priceless.
April 26 was indeed a day we will always look back to. It was a proof of God’s amazing grace, His awesome power and goodness. Yes, on that day, the blue sky smiled at us and the golden sunset delighted with us. Not a single raindrop descended from the sky but only tears of gladness from eyes in awe. A bunch of love poured that day instead of rain. That day was celebrated with people closest to our hearts. And on that day, water turned to wine.
